Welcome from the Head of Boarding
Thank you for your interest in boarding
at Guildford Grammar School. Since
the School’s foundation in 1896, we
have established a proud tradition of
boarding. Guildford Grammar School
has a long history as a boarding school,
hosting international students. Our first
international boarders, Humphrey Stretton
Agar and John Stretton Agar from Ceylon
(Sri Lanka), joined the School in 1923.
We aim to provide a home away from
home for our domestic and international
boarders, with a focus on providing
exceptional education in an inclusive and
welcoming environment. Our boarders
form strong relationships and establish
lifelong values during their time boarding
with us.
With the introduction of co-educational
boarding in 2020, we are excited to see
our community grow and the construction
of a new state-of-the-art co-educational
boarding facility to be completed in 2021.
Family is at the heart of our boarding
community. My family and I have been
involved with this wonderful school for many
years and over this time we have developed
lasting friendships with staff and students
alike. It is without a doubt the people of this
community who make Guildford Grammar
School such a warm place.
We are known for our extensive student
wellbeing and care program, where
every child is known and cared for. Our
approachable and friendly team create
a happy and sociable home where all
boarders enjoy a sense of belonging and
purpose. The boarding house is not just a
place to live during term time, it is a place
for children to grow.
I look forward to meeting you and your
family and welcoming you to Guildford
Grammar School.
