Rebuild the main tees and expand their footprint - keeping the classic connections to The Shop
Add setup options with new forward tees that extend along the hole
Better connect the fairway to the pond and adjust the fairway bunkers to best reflect the strategic lines of play on this par 5
Trade sand for hummocks along the left - introducing all the elements of the course on the first hole - adjust the 2nd landing area bunkers to be thoughtful for a wide range of players
Place an important cross bunker that establishes the entrance to the green with a kick slope into the putting surface
Modify the original Ross vision for his 11th hole ( a short par 3 ) and utilize it for this par 5 - as the strategy and shot values overlap quite nicely - eliminate the man-made pond

Original Ross Blueprint
Left : Using the original Ross 11th as inspiration , the new 1st green will be signified by a wealth of differing hole locations protected by bunkers on the corners . An open approach will allow balls to feed onto the surface from the left .

PROPOSED CHANGES
Left : The current green on # 1 is not an original Ross . To better fit the green to the course , a modified mirror image of the original Ross 11th green makes for a wonderful par 5 strategy .
