Having a network with greater transport capacity , low latency and fully oriented towards quality of service , such as 5G networks , anticipates a significant transformation in how companies can compete in an Industry 4.0 with hyperconnectivity .

Projections from consultancies like Gartner show a paradigm shift in 5G connectivity , as more than 50 % of connected devices will not be smartphones , but various connected products and applications across sectors like services , manufacturing , among others , can take advantage of the benefits of 5G networks .
According to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology , the deployment of 5G is considered a technological and developmental milestone for Colombia , promising significant improvements in speed and connection capacity . This will have a positive impact on areas such as industry , healthcare , education and communication in general .
The spectrum auction is a key process to allocate the necessary frequencies to implement 5G technology in the country , allowing greater connectivity and new digital opportunities . This process is set to take place in the second half of 2023 and is expected to conclude in December with spectrum allocation , as per the schedule set by the Ministry .
The shift to a 5G network will open up new opportunities for innovation and growth across various business sectors . As connectivity becomes faster and more reliable , companies can leverage increased automation and real-time data processing . For instance , in the IT and service industries , implementing 5G-connected devices and sensors will enable more efficient resource management and agile decision-making . This increased agility will be crucial in responding to changing market demands and delivering enhanced customer experiences .
The expansion of 5G networks will also drive greater adoption of technologies like the Internet of Things ( IoT ) in business environments . IoT devices , from industrial sensors to connected medical equipment , will require robust and high-speed connectivity that only 5G can provide . This will fuel the demand for personalized and reliable connectivity solutions , stimulating the growth of providers offering private network solutions for businesses .
Companies will also be more inclined to invest in the necessary infrastructure to fully leverage the 5G network .
Implementing routers and connectivity devices will become a priority to enable seamless communication and fast data transfer . This will particularly benefit
companies that rely on constant information transmission , such as manufacturing and logistics , where automation and real-time monitoring are essential for operational efficiency .
Furthermore , the increased speed and capacity of the 5G network will facilitate the adoption of cloud solutions and remote computing services . Companies will be able to take advantage of more advanced applications and platforms without connectivity limitations , leading to greater flexibility and collaboration among geographically distributed teams .
In conclusion , the rise of 5G networks will drastically change the needs and priorities of companies regarding connectivity and mobility .
The diversification of connected devices , coupled with enhanced data processing and transfer capabilities , will drive innovation across various sectors . Companies will have the opportunity to optimize operations , improve customer experiences , and explore new technological solutions .
To fully capitalize on this transformation , businesses must invest in the necessary infrastructure and adapt their strategies to embrace the possibilities that the 5G network offers .
