Krishani is currently an Accounting Officer with the Women’ s Entrepreneurship Program at INDECOS. Before working at INDECOS, she was a Training Officer with a bank in Matara. She studied advanced level commerce at the Matara Central College where she completed her Chartered Accounts examination. Her experience with INDECOS’ gender trainings and policy was eye-opening. Prior to her participation, she was not aware of gender related issues, whi were covered through this program. One of the post-training activities that she found intere was preparing a Gender File, which aimed to give participants the opportunity to further eng with their learning by putting together a folder with resources, articles and art that are relev to the trainings ' discussions. Each of the participants’ files were combined at a follow-up ev and are now kept in a Gender Resource cabinet in-office. Krishani learned a lot through her research and working with a colleague to prepare her Gender File. She feels that gender trai programs are important as,“ many people don’ t know what gender is about, like myself befor training. Having a training program means their knowledge will be improved, and they can kn about gender policies and other updates.” In the future, Krishani hopes that all women can fi their happiness in their professional and personal lives. She wants women to think that if the do it, that they know they can.
