Let me pose a question or two for a
moment. Why does particular actors or
actresses’ work stand out for so many
people, and why do we want to hear a song
again and again? There are several reasons
why both these scenarios prevail of course,
but there is a constant amongst the reasons,
and that is the authenticity of the
performance by the actor or singer, the
believability of the words they are reciting
or singing that serves to capture our
imagination to such a degree that they
become irresistible to us
Our supermarkets shelves are bulging with
products that tell us we can purchase “jam
just like grandma made” “tinned tomatoes
grown and packaged in the old way” and
“real bread” baked with only the finest
in a jar, tin and
ingredients …
cellophane paper. The very fact that each of
these products spends a considerable length
of time on the shelves suggests the opposite
of
ALL WE CAN EVER DO IS
BE TRUE TO OUR-
SELVES, AND CON-
STANTS ARE SOMETHING
WE SHOULD ALL SEEK
T O H AV E P L E N T Y O F I N
OUR LIVES .
Constants give us an opportunity to rely on
ourselves when the going gets tough, and by
having authenticity wrapped around this
bedrock, we have the quintessential
ingredient to help us move smoothly through
each day being exactly who we are.
