T
he Bryan Rotary 10 Business
Performance Awards Luncheon will
be held on June 14, noon to 1:30 p.m.,
with seating beginning at 11:30 a.m., at
the Hilton College Station.
The luncheon will recognize the Top
10 fastest-growing, small businesses in
Brazos County for their achievements and
for their significant economic impact on the
Brazos Valley community. The luncheon
is sponsored by the Bryan Rotary Club, in
cooperation with the Bryan College Station
Chamber of Commerce and in partnership
with the Mays Business School at Texas
A&M University. The primary financial
underwriter for the awards ceremony is
Anco Insurance, located in Bryan.
The concept for the awards programs
was introduced in 1993 as an economic
development program and reflects the
respect Rotarians have for the value
of productive work and for all useful
occupations. A proposal was presented
to Louis Newman of Newman Printing
Company, asking him to underwrite the
costs of the Awards program, which was
named in his honor from 1994-2015.
Newman continued their involvement in
Bryan Rotary’s Business Awards, but the
financial supporter changed, as well as
the name of the awards program, to Tom
Light Chevrolet in 2015, and in 2016, Anco
Insurance became the primary financial

underwriter for what is now recognized
as the Bryan Rotary 10 Business
Performance Awards Program.
Over the years, various changes and
additions have been incorporated into
the Awards Program, but the focus on
local economic growth continues to be
its main purpose. In 1998, “The Bryan
Rotary Club/Anco Insurance Award for
Lifetime Business Achievement” was
introduced and it will be presented at
this year’s luncheon.
The keynote speaker at the event
is Brad Napp, small business advocate
in the office of Governor Greg Abbott.
Reservations are $40 each with a table
option available, and the deadline for
reservations is Friday, June 7.
