This alumni spotlight showcases three Enfield Public Schools graduates who have returned to the district to
pursue their teaching careers: Kelsey McGuire, Alex Tracy, and Karen Suleski.
Enfield Public Schools welcomes these alumni back to the district.
elsey McGuire graduated from
Enfield High School in 2006 and
is now a Grade 4 teacher at Prudence Crandall School. She always wanted to work with children and have an impact on them
the way some of her teachers had
on her. Miss McGuire wants her
students to enjoy school and wants
learning to be fun. She strives to
make school a positive place for
her students and wants to be a part
of shaping their lives. She has
gone back to thank certain teachers who have impacted her and
says that if even one child would
come back and thank her, then
that would epitomize the reason
she went into teaching.
be a teacher and had such a happy
childhood here in Enfield that she
wanted to be a part of this community as an adult. She remembers her hometown as a great
place to grow up in and wants that
for her own family one day.
Miss McGuire also wanted to be
surrounded by the great teachers
she knows from having attended
Enfield’ s schools. In fact, she
credits two of her elementary
teachers – Parkman’ s Miss Murphy and former Parkman teacher
Mrs. Fitzgerald – for inspiring her
to go into education. She enjoyed
their style of teaching and how
they cared about their students as
kids and not just as students. Miss
Miss McGuire always wanted to McGuire appreciated how Miss

Murphy and Mrs. Fitzgerald wanted their students to do well, which
made her want to learn from them.
Miss McGuire says the best part
of her day is the moment when the
light bulb goes off and a student
finally understands a concept. She
also enjoys seeing the kids become excited over something. One
such example is upon getting their
writer’ s notebooks, students who
were initially reluctant were enthusiastically writing for ten or
more minutes. She recognizes
that there are so many challenges
that educators face, but believes
that if you get to know the child,
you can get the child excited about
learning.
