though, as DJ, Zee and Chowder dig into the
house’s history and discover its evil origins. PG.
GROWN UPS
TEENS
The Conspiracy: A pair of documentary
filmmakers decide to follow the clues of a
disappeared conspiracy theorist, only to
discover a far more serious threat than they’d
ever expected. Not rated.
The Craft: Before Harry Potter turned teen
witchcraft into a happy affair,“The Craft”showed
us the consequences of dabbling in dark powers
(and made us even more frightened of Fairuza
Balk). R.
Final Destination: Spawning a stream of
sequels almost as prolific as “The Fast and the
Furious,” the original “Final Destination” follows
a group of teens who managed to avoid dying
in a plane crash only to be chased down by
Death itself. R.
The Faculty: Taking a cue from “Invasion of
the Body Snatchers,” this flick dares to ask what
happens when a rag-tag group of teenagers
are tasked with saving the world from an alien
takeover. Don’t discount the movie because of
the teen theme, as celebrated director Robert
Rodriguez directs. R.
Idle Hands: One of the most unlikely horror
films ever created, featuring a teen with a
possessed hand that goes on a killing spree
even after being detached from his body.
Fortunately, his two best friends help him sort
the situation, even after the hand murders
them and they return as zombies. R.
Plus One: A passing comet causes a bizarre
time warp at the last party of high school,
with partygoers witnessing doppelgängers of
themselves appearing and repeating their own
actions of the last fifteen minutes, then the last
five, the last two, and then… well, it gets heavy.
Not rated.

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil: This horror comedy
pairs a couple of redneck buddies against a
group of vacationing college students who
think they’re being hunted by the rednecks in
typical horror movie style, leading to ridiculously
bloody misunderstandings and tons of laughs.
R.
Cabin in the Woods: Another genre-twister
with both laughs and terror, “Cabin” reveals
the masterminds behind every horror film
ever created: an ancient set of old-world gods
that demand sacrifice, and an international
organization that sets teens and college kids on
the path to doom. R.
Devil’s Pass: A group of documentary
filmmakers travel into Russia’s Dyatlov Pass,
where several members of an expedition
inexplicably died in the freezing night. Once
they arrive, bizarre incidents build until the
story goes far beyond a simple found-footage
flick about creepy noises. R.
Jug Face: Taking a page from “The Children
of the Corn,” the film centers on a community
protected and blessed by a mysterious force in
exchange for ritual sacrifices. When pregnant
teen Ada discovers that she’s next in line, she
hides the evidence that she’s been chosen and
things spin out of control. R.
