The Audition: [R, 1999] The cult horror film from Japan that caused Robb Zombie to leave the theater.
The film follows a widower who just wants to find a
nice girl to fill the gap that his wife left. His friend, who
works in television marketing, helps him host an audition to find the perfect girl. When the widower makes
his choice, his perfect girl doesn’t seem so perfect
anymore.

LAUGHS:
Shaun of the Dead: [R, 2004] Full of humor, gore, and
quick cuts; Shaun of the Dead is a great film to watch
this time of year. Shaun, the anti-hero of the masses,
is stuck in a rut and about to lose his girlfriend unless he can show her that he really cares. Just in time
too, because the recently deceased have started rising
and noticing they have a taste for the flesh of the living. Now it’s up to Shaun to get his friends to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for all this to blow over.
Army of Darkness: [R, 1992] The king of B-movies
starring the King of B-Movies, Bruce Campbell. This
cult classic is the third in the trilogy of Evil Dead. But
fear not, this movie is standalone enough to been
seen by itself. The film follows Ashley “Ash” Williams on
the worst day of his life. He’s already cut off his hand,
killed his girlfriend, and now…he’s stuck in 15th century England with seemingly no way to get home.
Zombieland: [R, 2009] Know the rules and nut up or
shut up are what you come away from with this film.
When college student Columbus runs into zombie
killer supreme Tallahassee, the two team up to get to
where they’re going. That is, until they run into the
con-artist sisters known as Wichita and Little Rock.
From there, it’s a road chase for revenge, guns, and
zombie killing. Or was it a road trip to Bill Murray’s
house? Or were they trying to get to Pacific Playland?
All that matters is that you remember the rules.
Beetlejuice: [PG, 1988] A Tim Burton film about a
ghost for hire [bio-exorcist] starring Alec Baldwin,
Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Jeffery Jones, and Winona Ryder. When the Deetz family moves into a haunted house occupied the recently
deceased Maitland couple, the Maitlands seek help
from a dangerous spirit known only as Beetlejuice.
When he proves to be more trouble than he’s worth,
the Deetz’s daughter and the Maitlands must team up
to stop the crazed ghost before things get more out
of hand. •
