COMFORT Run
The Captain Kyle Comfort Foundation is once again holding their annual 5k walk and run race at McClellan Medical Park in Anniston, Nov. 9
at 8 a.m.
Captain Kyle Comfort died half a
world away from home, hit by an improvised explosive device, or IED, in
the North Helmand Province of Afghanistan. The Saks native and JSU
criminal justice grad left behind his
wife and child, but also his legacy of
action.
In his honor, his family set up the Kyle
Comfort Memorial Foundation, dedicated to helping out wounded warriors and their families, with support
like transport to and from hospitals,
medical equipment, home modification and extended care. The foundation provides toys to kids and supplies to families who are waiting for
their husbands and wives to come
home from combat.
The 5k funds these operations. Adult
registration is $25, children under 18
are $20, and teams and sponsors are
$15 each. Sponsors make donations
of $500 and up.
Even if you can’t run, don’t be afraid
to walk with your head held high in
memory of a local hero who is still
helping his brothers in arms even after his tragic passing.
