It only takes 23 seconds of Collin Searcy’s
video for “Home” to see three years of personal demons come to a head; just under
half a minute to get the narrative, seeing the
24-year-old rapper stare down home movies
with wet eyes, cast in a blue glow from VHS
memories. Two boys hug on screen and a
voice speaks the word “brother,” and it’s clear
someone was lost along the way.
It takes only 23 seconds to get invested,
before the track even starts playing, because

“‘Home’ is talking about my journey through
depression, or into depression. I don’t ever really talk too much about it,” said Searcy, leaning back outside a Starbucks on one of the
last Sunny days in December. “It’s definitely
made me who I am now.”
