LEARN MORE
From what I’ve read there are several
facets to Project 58 including coffee, food
and water support, the social justice and
the chaplain program? Tell me how all of
these programs work together and/or
independently to make up Project 58. but a global effort to repair the world, we
changed the name to Project 58 in order to
open it up to more than so all faiths, churches,
businesses and communities can participate.
Everyone can find a place to serve here!!!
Our mission is simple. We provide sustainable
solutions around the world. We do this by
feeding people, providing clean water, and
enacting social justice. I like to say we think
globally and act locally. We do that mostly by
short term trips with long term vision. Each
program is part of a puzzle for us and as you
said can work independently or all together.
We believe as you serve it will transform you
personally. As you are transformed you will
start transforming your communities, and
then as you see community transformation
you will want to expand that to a global effort
with a mission trip or something along those
lines. What am I leaving out? Please add any
additional information you would like
to share about The Press, Project 58, or
Word Alive in general.
Where did the name Project 58
come from?
It originally came out of the Bible from the
book of Isaiah and was founded by Kent and
Beverly Mattox, here at Word Alive Interna-
tional Outreach. If I can quickly paraphrase
that chapter is says that God is looking for this
kind of fast, that you would take care of those
less fortunate, windows, orphans, the hungry,
those in prison etc.…and if you do this you
will be like a well-watered garden. You will be
called repairers of the breach; you will be able
to make communities livable again and will
be known as those that can fix anything!
So they called it Isaiah 58 originally, but once
we realized this was not just about a church,
INSIGHT
You can visit www.project58.com to learn
how you can #bethedifference with us
around the world. We accomplish most of
what we do by our Pray Fast Give strategy. We
ask everyone to pray for a need around the
world. It could be a specific country or just a
need in general like lack of clean water etc.
Then we ask you to fast one meal a week, you
can pick the day and the meal, but choose
one a week. Then take the money you would
have used on that meal and donate it to Proj-
ect 58.
For each $1.00 that is donated it can break
down as easy as this. $1.00 provides clean
drinking water for an entire year. For every
25 cents you can give someone a hot meal.
It can’t get much easier than that. When you
look at numbers it can really open your eyes
to what happens around the world. 95% of
the world lives outside of the United States.
To me that is incredible that we only make
up 5% of the world. If you go by Starbucks
this week and order a tall latte, just know that
could give three people clean drinking water
for a year or 14 people a hot meal. Now I’m
not saying don’t drink a latte, I’m just suggest-
ing we skip one trip or meal a week and help
change the world. ✽
