madame, according to Burton. When rehearsals have collapsed into chitchat and jokes, it’s Madame Aria Charms that has to break it up and get everyone back to work. “I’ll tell people that I’m sorry for being tough on them after rehearsals,” said Burton, but then she laughed. “I keep b****es in line!” The show ends after Lamour exits the stage, leaving the crowd shaken and wanting more. The performers take bows as they’re introduced, and the audience roars. Once the troupe steps out of the bar’s heat into the cool night air, they’re immediately beset at all sides by adoring fans. The initial call for auditions earlier in the year mustered three prospects, all of whom joined the troupe. By the end of the night, Kitchen has a mass of volunteers who want to take to the stage, which will help fill out the planned two hours of entertainment at the troupe’s first full-length show in early 2014. “People who grew up on stage dancing and performing, it becomes a thing you did as a child,” said Kitchen, “but this is a way to continue that as an adult.
