eing a business owner people would
think that you are always the best
at whatever it is you do, right? Have
a landscaping company, then have the
award-winning yard on the block. A certified
accountant, your finances impeccable. A
personal trainer, always have the pinnacle
body image while having no bad food
cravings and never lacking motivation to
exercise. HAH!
Many of my clients over the years have
been independent business owners with
crazy schedules and never ending to-do
lists. When it comes to the health of an
entrepreneur there are two types of us: 1)
the workaholic that gets minimal sleep and
constant responsibilities leave us drained,
unmotivated to take care of ourselves, or 2)
the business owner who understands his/
her whole reason for “doing my own thing”

is to allow more freedom for health living
and excessive happiness. I would love to say
that I spend most of my time in the second
category, but this morning was a testament
that I am just as guilty as the next “American
Dream” seeker, lacking in motivation and
longing for a sun tan somewhere on the
luscious coast of Hwy 30A.
Up at 5:00am, training session at 6:00, and
my own workout scheduled for 7:15am. Let
me describe the battle that took place in my
head before pulling up to the gym:
“Alright, time to workout! Hmm…I’m only a
few blocks from the coffee shop and I have
so much to do. I got a decent workout in
yesterday so I can skip today right? Wait,
no I didn’t workout yesterday…I had full
intensions of swimming laps in the pool but
laid there and checked emails instead. Why
am I so tired today?! Nobody understands
