McClellan Road Race
A challenging 22 mile loop including a 17 %, . 75 mile climb up Bains Gap . Intense to say the least . On April 9 , the McClellan Road Race tests bikers distance and climbing stamina .
The race course travels through Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge and the Anniston Eastern Bypass . The 69-mile elite women ’ s race begins at 9:00 am . The women will complete 3 laps around the 22 mile loop . The 91-mile elite men ’ s race begins at 1:00 pm . The men will complete 4 laps around the 22 mile loop . Both races have grand prizes of $ 12,000 . Race entry fees are donated to Calhoun County Relay for Life . $ 80,000 has been donated since 2005 . The 2017 goal is $ 12,500 .
