Independence Day - “India for Jesus” Independence Day in CGLD is truly a reminiscent day where students and members of the CGLD community from all over India join arm-in-arm and take a moment to look back at India’s freedom struggle. Members came in their own traditional clothing and the day started with an opening prayer lead by Dr. Merlin Jones. A degree of sentiment began to stir as patriotic gospel songs were beautifully sung by students. After which, Scriptures were read in different languages. The Chief Guest, JSC Julius, who was likened in his workplace as having Jesus’ personality, was honorably welcomed on stage. He shared his amazing testimony and spoke on respecting authority and obeying the law. One highlight in his message was where he wisely stated, “the job you do is not important but how you do it is important.” At the end of the message, the community breakfast began, which was followed by a motivating tableau of the independence struggle in India. The tableau was acted out by all four teams of CGLD with Mount Olive performing ‘Tirpur Kumran’, Mount Horeb performing ‘Jalian Walla Bhag’, Mount Zion performing ‘The Kakore Incident’ and Mount Hermon performing ‘Quit India Movement’. India has truly come a long way and may God bless our nation. Missions Jumble Sales - “Raise Money- Rise Missions” “Vision to Missions...” Mission Jumble Sales Day is an interesting event where all are welcome! Members of the CGLD community are asked if they have any items that they wouldn’t mind departing with and the entire collection will be added up, and sold to raise much-needed funds for missions. It is a great day of fun and every year, by God’s hand, the turnout of sales is miraculously successful. The event will include a wide host of events, such as auctions, food stalls, games, song dedications, dance, and of course the varieties of goods on sale. Jumble Sale 2014 was remarkable and crowds filled the cafeteria and the stalls from the start to the end to find great bargains. Some of the super items on auction were home appliances, electronics, musical instruments, and more. You could see very pleased smiles on every satisfied customer’s face as they walked away with their new item. The day was truly a blessed day and the mission target was reached successfully! Praise God! 37
