Both of these delightful restaurants have beachfront locations and are a wonderful venue to visit at any time of the year. They are open for morning coffee, lunch and dinner or just a drink in the evening with family and friends. Both have areas for al fresco dining so that guests can relax and listen to the waves rolling onto the beach and live music is provided on Saturday nights at both sites and also Sunday lunch in Dover. The head chefs source most of their fresh fish from Griggs of Hythe and seasonal catches are reflected on the Specials boards. Locally grown fruit and vegetables are also used. The menu also has non-fish and vegetarian options plus a children’s menu. The standard restaurant menu features many fish and seafood favourites – whitebait, bouillabaisse and potted shrimps to name but a few of the starters. Main courses include traditional beer battered fish and chips; poached, locally smoked haddock served with wholegrain mustard mashed potatoes, green vegetables, hollandaise sauce and a poached egg; moules marinières or the delicious seafood platter for two or more. When it comes to desserts there are some difficult choices to be made – dark chocolate and salted caramel tart with white chocolate mousse and caramelised white chocolate or bread and butter pudding for example. If you prefer something lighter the excellent range of sorbets and ice creams from Simply Ice Cream are the answer; Hythe Bay stocks an impressive range of flavours and if you feel inclined to share, chose the ‘magnificent seven’ and share with a friend! There is a well thought out and reasonably priced wine list with wines from France, Italy, South Africa and South America as well as a selection of Champagnes and sparkling wines for that special occasion. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm. Full restaurant service from 12 noon to 10pm. 8
