Saltwood on the Green
It’s the question we all ask ourselves when we sit down at any
restaurant... What do I fancy? What things on the menu really grab
my attention?
When you realise that the answer is ‘everything’, you know you’re
somewhere pretty special.

Still a relative newcomer to the Kent dining scene (it only opened in
April this year), Saltwood on the Green sits squarely but quietly in
the heart of the village that gave it its name. The large picture
windows and warm and friendly atmosphere of a casual but
intimate dining room is the perfect backdrop for food that is both
inspiring and comforting.
Don’t be fooled by the apparent simplicity of an understated menu;
this is high quality cooking rarely found outside of London’s
superstar restaurants. Locally sourced ingredients take centre stage
as owner and Chef Jeff Kipp introduces just enough culinary
fireworks to serve up mouthwatering new takes on old favourites.
The regularly changing menu reflects the opportunities seasonal
ingredients provide so regulars are given new choices to experience
(check our website for the most up to date menus).

Even the cocktails, not to mention an extensive G&T menu, are
refreshingly different (they make their own tonic) and they are
served, as is the food, with a genuine smile and unfussy efficiency.
While Soft Pretzels with Rarebit Spread from the ‘Nibbles’ section or
Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pie from the Desserts list, show there
are inventive minds at work, the kitchen never strays into flashiness
or overindulgence. This is real food for real people, with the focus
firmly on superb produce and outstanding flavours and taste
combinations.
The menu is structured to fit around you – light bites offer great
value from only £7, whilst you can take advantage of our lunch
offers of 2 courses at £15 or 3 for £18 if you are looking for a set
price menu.
If you’ve not been, treat yourself. If you’re already a regular, spread
the word. Kent deserves more restaurants like this.
