Jeffery Amherst , born in Sevenoaks , was the commanderin-chief of British forces in North America during the Seven Years ' War , which saw France surrender Canada to the British . Originally a hunting lodge , The Amherst Inn was built in a setting which resembled the scene of Sir Jeffrey Amherst ' s great Canadian victory , which is how it came by its name .

One Warwick Park Hotel ’ s New Brasserie
One Warwick Park Hotel recently opened its new breakfast and brunch restaurant at the end of 2022 . Named The Brasserie , the restaurant serves breakfast favourites including eggs royale and buttermilk pancakes and offers bottomless brunch at the weekend . Diners are invited to toast to bottomless brunch every weekend where foodies can indulge in any dish from the breakfast menu along with 90 minutes of free-flowing prosecco , bellinis , mimosas or Bloody Marys . Michelin Green Star holder , The Small Holding ’ s new ‘ Grow the Seasons ’ menu leads with a plethora of seasonal courses taking inspiration from their very own small holding farm . For the first time , they will be opening their farm for a very special behind-thescenes experience , as visitors are invited to discover and share in their knowledge , as they share their expertise on seasonal growing . This will include their ‘ no dig ’ method and how to be sustainable in your own garden . Courses will run throughout the year , in tune with the four growing seasons , with full days including a relaxed lunch cooked by their chefs , using ingredients from their acre of farmland . This experience will run throughout the months of February , May , August , and November 2023 .

Bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to Canterbury , this new family-run Greek venture promises to be the new cosy , authentic and welcoming venue in town . Run by husband and wife team Irena and Edmond Paja , Amalis , named after the couple ' s twin daughters Amelia and Alisia , will offer Greek iced coffees , Greek cinnamon coffee and tea alongside crêpes , cakes , waffles and sweet and savoury pastries , as well as imported pantry items that cannot be easily found in the UK , especially outside of London .
