The Royalton
Thankfully we weren’t saying goodbye
to St Lucia, for our holiday was about
to change up a gear as, back with the
delightful George, we journeyed to
the north of the island. Although
further from the airport, it is one of
the most popular locations for visitors;
home to Rodney Bay’s renowned
beaches and Pigeon Point where the
Altantic meets the Caribbean Sea;
offering spectacular beaches,
watersports and surfing, as well as a
thriving night-life.
Our destination was the popular
and grand-scale Royalton. Pulling into
the winding private driveway, we
bypassed the main, and has to be said
awe-inspiring entrance; with its
double-height open lobby offering
views to the grounds and pools below,
and crashing waves beyond; and
instead pulled up at the Diamond
Club Lounge.
Royalton offers all guests its All-In
Luxury® style getaway package; with
in-room beverages; private balcony
or terrace; non-motorised watersports;
unlimited, 24/7, reservation-free
dining; all drinks; 24-hour room
service; and wifi included. However
you can elevate your luxury holiday
further by upgrading to the Diamond
Club. Not only do you get dedicated
check-in in the lounge, you get a
complimentary Butler, with your
own Butler phone to contact them
with, exclusive à la carte restaurants
and bar areas, and a private pool
and beach area to boot. Diamond
Club Guests are also housed in their
own dedicated block, with upper
floors boasting double width balconies
with private jacuzzis and the ground
floor room, ours included, their own
plunge pool!
Our room had a large kitchen-diner-
come-lounge area, which was made
up into a bedroom for the kids each
evening, as well as having an
additional shower room with WC.
Our bedroom offered the delightfully
comfortable DreamBed™, chaise
lounge, access to the plunge pool and
a large bathroom with plentiful storage
space, double vanity, free standing
bath, huge rainforest shower and
separate WC.
From the window it didn't take long for the kids to see the three visible pools;
the infinity delight overlooking the beach, the split level quieter pools with their
swim- up bars, and the kids ultimate dream pool, complete with pirate ship slides,
waterspouts and tumbling drench buckets - total kids holiday goals.
In fact the whole resort is family friendly, with the Kids Adventure
Program offering kids club activities and babysitting services, child-friendly
evening entertainment, and every restaurant - there are 8 (yes 8!) as well as a
coffee shop, poolside snack van and the Diamond Club pool snack bar - offers
child-friendly options.
In fact the food was plentiful and varied; there is the main Gourmet Marche
international buffet, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with show cooking
stations and literally something for everyone; as well as the á la carte offerings;
Armadillo Tex-Mex with its spicy fajitas, Grazie Italian Trattoria with its wood-
oven baked pizzas; SCORE Sports Bar with its burgers and fries; Calypso’s
Caribbean flavour; the Hunter Steakhouse with its open kitchen preparing
succulent steaks, and our personal favourite, the flair teppanyaki cooking at Zen.
There are also special celebration evenings too, during our stay was the massive
island-wide National Day celebrations, which the resort celebrated Calypso
party-style with a huge Caribbean buffet and signature cocktails.
Fun, busy and full of things to do, the kids loved the beach, the excitement and
the activities (as well as the seemingly-always-available ice-cream), a great end
to a family holiday.
