NEWS CRAYFORD MAN WHO IS LOSING HIS SIGHT WILL BRAVE 135MPH WING-WALK A man from Crayford, who is registered blind, will stand on the top wing of a biplane, travelling at 135mph, 500ft in the air, to fundraise for the national disability charity, Sense. as possible, which includes these crazy challenges. This is my first time wing-walking and I can’t wait. If it can raise awareness of the condition and money for research then that’s a bonus.” Mark Baxter, who is 35 years old, has a degenerative condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and has been losing his eyesight from an early age. He has used the disability as a spur to do as much as he can, while he can. In the last decade he has undertaken a number of extreme challenges, including skydives, the London Marathon, the Three Peaks Challenge, and treks across the Sahara Desert and Iceland. Mark will take to the in early July, as part of Deafblind Awareness Week (26th June to 2nd July). He will board a Boeing Stearman biplane as it climbs, dives and swoops for low-level flybys. Mark said: “As Retinitis Pigmentosa is so unpredictable I do not know how long I have left to see these sights, so I try to do and see as much Mark is hoping to raise £1,000 for the national disability charity, Sense, who support people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments, or other complex needs to live full, independent lives. www.justgiving.com/senseflight1717 KENTISH OILS EXPAND WITH NEW BRAND Following on from the success of their Kentish Oils and Marinades and their Plain Mayonnaise, which was awarded two stars in the prestigious Great Taste Awards last year, Kentish Oils are pleased to launch their new brand, Kentish Condiments. Kentish Condiments will be the brand that their condiment products are presented under. The first to transition is the range of handmade, quality mayonnaise which launched in June and includes two new exciting flavours just in time for the BBQ season: Garlic and Chilli. The new brand is the starting point of a whole suite of products, including other variations of sauces and dressings, that will be launched under the company’s new owner, Laura Bounds, who acquired the company in March of this year. Bounds, said: “We are very excited to be launching our new brand. Our company ethos is to create products that use local ingredients and support local producers in Kent. Our decision to rebrand the products has come from our desire to grow our range of products and expand into the condiments market with 164 distinctive new products. We are so proud to have earned not one, but two stars, for our original plain mayo at the Great Taste Awards 2016, and the new additions are adding a new dimension to a product that has been exceptionally well received.”
