JAPAN COMES TO MAIDSTONE
JAPAN COMES TO MAIDSTONE THIS SPRING, WITH MAIDSTONE MUSEUM HOSTING A SELECTION OF EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS INSPIRED BY THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN.
From 1st April until 10th June, the temporary exhibitions gallery will be host to a captivating exhibition entitled Japan: A Floating World in Print. Featuring over 60 ukiyo-e prints from the 18th to the 20th century, works by acclaimed masters of the revered Japanese woodblock technique recreate life in traditional Japan. Discover dramatic landscapes from Hokusai and Hiroshige, marvel at delicate Bijinga prints of beautiful women, and wonder at the unique style of Ogata Gekko.
To complement the exhibition, a selection of workshops and activities will also be held to provide a flavour of the East, with a Japanese style flower arranging workshop on 28th April, and Manga art lessons for both adults and children demonstrating the iconic graphic style on 13th May. There is even a Museum Lates event being held on 25th May in conjunction with Wagamama, providing tastings of foods, beers and juices from Japan.
