THE BETTESHANGER PROJECT UPDATE
WILKINS KENNEDY CONTINUES KENT COUNTY CRICKET CLUB SPONSORSHIP
Leading UK accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy, is pleased to confirm the continued sponsorship of Kent County Cricket Club for a 5th year.
Wilkins Kennedy’ s Kent offices sponsor a number of initiatives and the cricket club has been in partnership with the firm since 2013. The continued alliance is now as important as ever, following Wilkins Kennedy’ s significant period of growth and strengthened presence in Kent.

The Betteshanger Project is starting to transform a 121-hectare derelict colliery into a leading site for sustainable business and commerce, education and international tourism. It is a flagship sustainability project, a national exemplar in green energy technology and a beacon project for Kent in terms of environmental ambition and sustainable lifestyles.
Work has begun on the construction of a new £ 8mil Visitor Centre, incorporating the Kent Mining Museum, built to the highest standards of sustainable design. Construction of the Visitor Centre will now be complete before the end of 2017, when
the building will be handed over to the Betteshanger team.
A programme of events is confirmed for 2017, including The Beast, the world’ s largest inflatable obstacle course, which will be making its UK debut at Betteshanger in May. Additional facilities in the form of‘ Tent Tipis’ will be in place from spring 2017. These large-scale canvas tents, with the capacity to seat 120, will form the basis of a pop-up festival village, accompanied by a picnic area and street food stalls.

10CC TO HEADLINE GIG FOR LIFE
The witty, lyrical 70s rockers lead an impressive line-up of musical talent at Gig for Life on the late May Bank Holiday weekend. Also headlining is Maverick Sabre, the edgy, soul singer, rapper and Brit Award nominee, along with alternative rockers Toploader and Americana group Los Pacaminos, featuring Paul Young.
The chart-topping names will be joined by local musical talent for Gig for Life, a one-day music event for 10,000 people, at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood. The event, on 27th May, is raising money for Cancer Research UK.
Event director David Rivers said:“ I’ m absolutely thrilled10cc is headlining Gig for Life. Their music, like the festival, is all about having fun together. We’ ve got a stonking good line-up which covers all musical tastes. It’ s a family festival with something for everyone and we hope it will create some wonderful memories.”
