ST EDMUND’ S SCHOOL CANTERBURY
“ PUPILS HAVE POSITIVE ATTITUDES TO LEARNING AND ARE STRONGLY MOTIVATED TO SUCCEED.” INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS INSPECTORATE REPORT
St Edmund ' s School Canterbury is a distinctive and historic boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 – 18 that provides a lively, challenging education in a nurturing environment and is proud to be the Choir School for Canterbury Cathedral. Academic standards are set high and the school is renowned for its excellence in music, drama and art as well as its sporting success in cricket, tennis, hockey and football.
The Head, Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, says St Edmund’ s has“ a history which stretches back to 1749, a commitment to good old fashioned values and an appreciation of a religious heritage. But equally importantly it is an inherently forward looking, aspirational, flexible and ever-changing community.”
With the advantage of the whole school sharing the same site, children joining the Pre-Prep or Junior School benefit from being part of the whole
St Edmund’ s community as well as the small class sizes, the excellent pastoral care and the enriching range of extracurricular opportunities on offer to all pupils. All this adds up to offer an exceptional educational experience.
The aim of the Junior School is to produce independent learners who are confident and motivated and, as a‘ through’ school, the pupils can then expect to move seamlessly into Senior School where they will continue to flourish.
St Edmund’ s welcomes day and boarding enquiries from parents and encourages families to visit the school. Entry points at ages 3 +, 7 +, 11 +, 13 + and 16 + are the norm, but entry into other year groups is possible when places become available.
