WHITSTABLE ROCKS OYSTER FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 2026!
Taking place from 11- 13 September, the Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival is back for 2026, offering a lively weekend of heritage, entertainment and delicious local flavours across the town. The festival celebrates Whitstable’ s historic connection to oysters and the vibrant sense of community that makes the town so special. From the Landing of the Oysters Ceremony to hands-on family activities, the festival honours the town’ s maritime heritage and offers a modern celebration for all ages.
Farmed by Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company, freshly shucked oysters are on offer all weekend alongside a variety of street food traders and a festival bar serving a carefully curated drinks menu. Visitors can also enjoy hot and cold seafood at The Lobster Shack, a beach bar with views of the Thames Estuary.
The Grading Shed stage is the heart of the festival and where visitors can find free, live music all weekend and an incredible showcase of local bands and DJs. Over on Long Beach, visitors can enjoy a fireworks display on Friday night, and the Whitstable Oyster Festival Association have curated a programme of free family activities on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday evening, teams will take part in the‘ Mud Tug O’ War’, the ultimate tug of war on the Whitstable mud flats, cheered on by a supportive crowd on Long Beach. There will also be a ticketed gig at the East Quay venue on Saturday 12 September, with a special headliner to be announced soon.
2026 also sees the return of the world famous Oyster Eating Competition, where contestants will battle it out to sup their oysters the fastest to win a luxurious prize. The event draws one of the largest crowds of the weekend and spectators can expect a fun, lively atmosphere.
