KENT WOMEN IN BUSINESS:
VICTORIA PACK
FOUNDER, VWELL WELLBEING STUDIO
What inspired you to create Vwell? Frustration! Perhaps my feisty redhead nature coming through! I realised that the kind of space I wanted to train in either didn’ t exist or wasn’ t being done well.
What was missing? So much of the industry focuses on pushing harder. I found myself navigating overcrowded gyms, overbooked classes, poor-quality equipment, uninspiring environments and inconsistent teaching. There was a huge gap between traditional fitness and genuine wellbeing.
What did you want instead? Honestly, I wanted to create my own playground! Somewhere I could bring everything I value under one roof: strength training, yoga, dance, fitness and holistic wellbeing, but delivered properly. Every element of Vwell, from the equipment and class sizes to the teaching style and atmosphere, was designed intentionally. Environmental sustainability was also key; Vwell is as eco-friendly and chemical-free as possible. It’ s how I live at home, and it felt natural to extend that into the studio.
You describe yourself as a bit of a science nerd- how does that influence your approach to movement and wellbeing? I’ m absolutely a science nerd. I actually have degrees in Genetics and Forensic Science, which surprises people, but it doesn’ t feel that different to what I do now- the main difference is that the bodies are still alive! Anatomical knowledge is integral to understanding that movement isn’ t abstract. It’ s biomechanics, load, tissue response and nervous system regulation. That’ s where safe, effective movement comes from. When someone walks through our doors, they’ re trusting us with their body and wellbeing and I take that responsibility very seriously.
Vwell offers a wide range of classes- was that intentional? Absolutely. No single discipline does everything. Strength without mobility doesn’ t work. Calm without resilience doesn’ t work. We need all of it. That philosophy shapes our timetable, which supports both physical strength and nervous system health, so people can sustainably exercise without being exhausted.
What challenges have you faced building a business in the wellness space? People hear I own a wellbeing studio and say“ oh, that sounds so zen!”. In reality, it requires boundaries and confident decisionmaking, especially as a female founder. Calm spaces don’ t create themselves, and running a values-led business still requires a very un-zen amount of spreadsheets and tough choices. Learning to say no to opportunities that didn’ t align, even when commercially tempting, was challenging. I also realised it’ s impossible to be an expert in everything and asking for help became a strength, not a weakness.
How do you personally define success for Vwell? Sounds cliche, but it’ s about impact. If someone leaves feeling stronger, more at home in their body and maybe made friends along the way, that’ s pretty cool. Before Vwell, I spent 10 years working in impact investments, measuring the social impact of enterprises, so thinking in terms of outcomes is second nature. Success isn’ t just about numbers; it’ s whether something genuinely improves people’ s lives.
How do you ensure quality stays high as the studio grows? Myself and my teachers are always learning, especially from each other! I’ m constantly reinvesting back into the studio, whether that’ s training, equipment, systems or the space itself.
What’ s next for Vwell? I can tell you where it’ s not heading! I’ m not interested in chasing fitness fads, cramming people in or creating an environment purely for the‘ reformer selfie’. For me, it’ s about substance over spectacle. I’ m focused on sustainable growth rather than expansion for expansion’ s sake. If we grow, it will be because it makes sense for our community, not because we’ re trying to be the biggest or loudest in the room. I want Vwell to continue leading with integrity and staying rooted in values.
