WALMER VOLUNTEERS TAKES ON EPIC CHALLENGE FOR THE RNLI
RNLI volunteer helm Dan Sinclaur and friend Nathan Siddans are preparing to take on a gruelling self-funded charity challenge in October 2025.
The pair will be cycling the length of the UK from John o’ Groats to Land’ s End, and as part of the route, they will detour to summit the three peaks- Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa( Snowdon)- adding more than 11,000 feet of elevation on foot to their cycle ride.
Dan and Nathan will set off at 6am on Monday 6 October, aiming to arrive at Land’ s End by Wednesday 15 October having covered more than 1,000 miles. They will complete the challenge carrying their gear, with no support vehicle and all accommodation booked in advance.
All funds raised will go directly to the RNLI, supporting its vital work to save lives at sea. The pair are selffunding the entire journey, ensuring all donations go straight to the charity.
“ The RNLI has just passed 200 years of lifesaving and we want to do our bit to help keep that going strong for the future,” said Dan.“ The RNLI is there for anyone who needs help at sea- I’ m inspired by the crew and want to make sure they can keep doing that for generations to come. Every donation, no matter how small, will help save lives.”

NEW SICILIAN TRATTORIA TO OPEN IN FOLKESTONE
“ As more employers prioritise the wellbeing of their workforce, this partnership will allow us to connect with a wider range of businesses in the communities we serve and provide their employees with flexible access to our facilities,” said Kelly Stead, commercial director at Mytime Active.“ It’ s a great opportunity for us to support more people to lead active, healthy lives and for businesses it’ s a win-win as research shows that exercise leads to increased workforce productivity.”
Let’ s Amore café is set to reopen early this month- this time in the heart of Folkestone- with an authentic Sicilian Italian trattoria. After nearly a year away from Fokestone Harbour Arm, they are excited to be opening their doors at 10 Rendezvous Street, offering a wider menu and even more delicious homemade treats.
Family-run and rooted in passion, Toni, a classically trained Sicilian chef, and Juliette, a creative entrepreneur, are running the business alongside their two young children. Their journey began with street food in East London, serving pizza fritta, before moving to the cosy Signal Box cafe. This new opening marks their third and most exciting chapter yet.
The menu will showcase traditional Sicilian and Italian dishes, served family-style. Diners can expect homemade pasta, local fish ravioli, fresh salads and arancini alongside their signature pizza fritta- a light, puffed Neapolitan classic that’ s deep-fried to perfection.
Let’ s Amore will officially open its doors to customers at the start of this month, bringing an exciting new addition to Folkestone’ s growing food scene.
