Why were Compton ’ s chosen to supply and fit the kitchen at The Harrow ? When we met the client at the self-build and home renovation exhibition , Built It Live in 2022 , they immediately told us how much they loved Compton ’ s ethos and the fact that a priority for us is to be involved with the vision of the project from the very beginning , coming up with a range of suggestions until we find an idea that our clients love . The products we were showcasing at the exhibition fell completely in line with their style and how they wanted their new kitchen to look .
What was the kitchen ’ s design brief ? Which kitchen was chosen ? The brief we were given was ‘ our forever home ’, with the overall ambition of creating a space that would suit their lifestyle and family life . The kitchen they chose is from our Canterbury range - 25mm tulip wooden doors with cock beading framing them ( cock beading helps to protect veneer on the faces of drawers and doors from being damaged when they slide into the carcass ). The carcasses are crown cut oak carcasses ; modern but sophisticated and traditional .
How do you achieve the balance between a bespoke kitchen design and budget ? Planning to budget is key to both the kitchen and our clients . Once the plan for the project is in place , the price can be determined and we can then suggest substitutions or changes until a suitable price point is achieved . When it comes to kitchen choices , there are so many different choices that can determine the price of the project and we will always offer multiple suggestions that work within a range of budgets to produce the desired look and feel .
Did anything go wrong on The Harrow project ? Nothing is perfect and mistakes can happen , but we learn from them allowing us to build and grow . As long as any mistakes or misunderstandings are resolved as soon as they ’ re spotted , most unfavourable situations can be rectified and at Compton ’ s we will always find a way . Thankfully , this project ran very smoothly and most do .
Did the property require any bespoke elements ? Unlike some of our other properties , this particular kitchen was built around some beautiful original Victorian and Tudor
