I had a chat with Riley O ’ Dwyer , founder of Mo Joe ’ s to find out more about the product that he founded , researched and launched – and that ’ s making such a marked improvement to my own life – both day and night !
What was the motivation behind starting Mo Joe ’ s ?
I graduated with a degree in business and
RILEY O ’ DWYER found myself working in a FinTech start-up , which for my first office job was an unbelievable apprenticeship , but it was emotionally draining . It was not long before I found myself struggling to switch off and my sleep patterns became worse , which in turn would really impact me the next day . At points I felt like I was merely existing and began to lack enthusiasm and energy . I turned to CBD after a suggestion from my best friend and for the first time I could remember in months , I drifted off nice and early and not woken or tossed and turned throughout the night . While the effects of CBD were extremely positive , I never enjoyed taking CBD oil . The taste was bitter , and I never really knew how much I was taking . After trial and error with various brands and still without a solution , I decided to create that solution myself , and Mo Joe ’ s was born .
The aim was to create products that would positively impact people ’ s quality of life and give consumers a product they would love . When I began researching , it was clear the scale of the issue and that I certainly was not the only one struggling . 80 % of UK adults are not getting eight hours of sleep and a large number significantly less . Also , 74 % of UK adults have felt so stressed at some point in the last year they have felt overwhelmed or unable to cope . In my mind , CBD was the obvious answer , yet not many people I knew understood what CBD was or had let alone tried it . And those that had assumed it was some form of marijuana that would get them high , or it was illegal . It was going to be an uphill battle , but I was sold on making it work .
Where did you start with the creation of your CBD Multivitamins ?
It was important to me that we created products that were as effective as possible , but equally as important , both enjoyable and easy to consume . I spent years speaking to potential partners and trying to find a solution we were happy with . Through lots of networking and cold calling I managed to arrange a call with a pharmaceutical executive in Singapore ( which I had to do in the middle of the night and just about managed to stay awake for ). The call resulted in sourcing the perfect partner in Switzerland and the journey to make our soft gums began . We never looked back , and after 18 months of sourcing ingredients and flavours from world-leading suppliers and testing , we finally ended up with our final products .
How did you know you had perfected the product ?
We tested loads of different formulations , but we struggled to make something that tasted amazing and was easily dosed . After hundreds of calls and several failed attempts we managed to produce our soft gum , and I knew we were on to a winner . I very nervously asked close family and friends to try the prototypes hoping my opinion was not biased , but it was a resounding success . They loved them and so do our customers . On Trustpilot 94 % of our reviews are five star and 100 % positive for taste !
