THE LOOK OF LOVE :
PHOTOGRAPHY ADVICE
WEDDING PLANNING CAN SEEM LIKE A DAUNTING TASK , WITH THE LONG LIST OF ASPECTS THAT ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE BUDGET . THERE ’ S THE VENUE , THE DRESS , SUITS , FLOWERS , FOOD AND THAT ’ S FORGETTING THE DAY AND EVENING ENTERTAINMENT . HOWEVER , THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENT YOU WILL MAKE , WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER .
There to capture every little moment , your wedding photographs will be the beautiful , timeless memories of your big day , an account of all the moments you want to relive again and again . But searching for a photographer can sometimes feel a little overwhelming . Ashleigh Britten Photography gives her advice on the most important things to consider when choosing the photographer for you .
Consider a budget
Cost is one of the most significant factors when it comes to choosing the photographer for your big day , but that said , it shouldn ’ t ever be the deciding factor . Choosing a photographer based on the price tag won ’ t always leave you with images you love . While doing your research is important , deciding on a photographer you love before knowing their prices can sometimes end in heartbreak , hence why it ’ s always best to set a budget beforehand or have a figure in mind . Nowadays , wedding photographers generally have a price point between £ 1,500 - £ 2,000 . Always remember that when choosing your photographer , you are paying for quality , style and experience . Wedding photography is a luxury , but at the same time , it ' s how you will remember your big day for years to come so it ’ s important to get it right .
Choose a style you like
Every photographer will have their own style whether that be traditional or more contemporary . I always advise looking through a photographer ’ s portfolio ; that way you will get a feel for how they work , their style and edit . If you feel an instant connection with the photographs , they resonate with you , and you can imagine yourself in that position , you have found the photographer for you .
Make sure you click with that person
Clicking with your photographer is important . Get to know them , and meet before the big day in person or via Zoom . I am always keen to meet my couples and have a general catch-up about life ; sometimes , we ’ ll meet for dinner or go for coffee and cake . Having a connection between a couple and a photographer will put everyone at ease on the big day ; you ’ ll also know a bit about one another ' s personality .
Do they come recommended ?
Testimonials are important , and can end up swaying your decision . Generally , photographers will have reviews on their websites or social platforms . It ’ s also lovely to put pending couples in touch with previous couples I have photographed ; this gives them an insight into what it ' s like to work with me . I recommend that couples always ask for testimonials ; the photographer should be more than happy to share them .
