How was the location for The Hamlet development chosen ?
The Hamlet as a location was already in existence and we saw the potential of the green oasis which we knew would appeal as a unique place to live as part of Chilmington Green - The New Garden City . Importantly for our residents , on the doorstep will be a range of education , leisure and health facilities meeting the needs of all ages – conveniently located just 10 minutes from Ashford and its high speed / rail connections to London and the Continent .
What was the property development objective ?
We wanted to provide a combination of 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 bedroom traditionally built homes ( predominantly detached ) set amongst fully landscaped gardens with pockets of green communal areas interspersed with footpaths to access the lagoon and cricket pitch .
How did you begin the development and design process for The Hamlet ?
If you can believe it , the idea and vision of The Hamlet was born out of the imagination of Malcom Jarvis over 23 years ago .
This was then developed together with many requirements / planning guidelines as required by Ashford Borough Council and others – but throughout we never lost the original essence of the development ’ s village feel which we are proud to be building today .
