DREAMLAND MARGATE CELEBRATES 102 YEARS OF THE UK ’ S OLDEST WOODEN ROLLER COASTER
On 16 August , Dreamland celebrated National Roller Coaster Day by shining a spotlight on the park ’ s crowning glory , The Scenic Railway . First opened in 1920 , The Scenic Railway turns a whopping 102 years old this year . Shane Guy , head of operations at Dreamland said : “ We ’ re so happy to be able to operate The Scenic Railway again after two years of being out of service . To see and hear our guests whizzing around enjoying our iconic coaster is a real thrill !” In continuation of the celebrations and to commemorate this historic ride , Dreamland held a competition to name the two Scenic trains , which since Dreamland reopened in 2017 , have carried more than 400,000 thrill-seekers . Shane explains : “ The Scenic has had a rich and vivid history and in honour of her turning 102 this year we offered fans the opportunity to name her trains . The two lucky winners will not only see their names on the trains , but they ’ ll also receive a commemorative piece of the Scenic Railway to keep forever .”
UK ’ S ONLY OUTDOOR SKYDIVE MACHINE LAUNCHES AT BLUEWATER
16 August saw Hangloose Adventure Bluewater complete a triple-bill of adrenalin-fuelled attractions . The new ride joins the 46-metre-drop Giant Swing , Europe ’ s biggest , which opened earlier this month and Skywire , England ’ s longest zip wire , which opened last year . Set within Bluewater ’ s 50 acres of parkland and lakes , the new Outdoor Skydive Machine will give visitors the chance to experience the thrill of skydiving against a backdrop of chalk cliffs . The ride , which is run in conjunction with Aerodium , the inventors and world leaders in custom-made vertical wind tunnels , is the only outdoor experience of its kind in the UK . The family friendly attraction will give riders a unique skydiving experience taking in breathtaking views of nature . Brooklyn Skeete , marketing executive at Hangloose commented : “ We are thrilled our third activity has launched . We ' re now offering multi-activity packages to ensure that every visit will be more exciting and adventurous than ever before - saving you up £ 40 per person !”
WHITEHEAD MONCKTON EXPANDS DISPUTE RESOLUTION TEAM
Dispute resolution lawyer Fariha Shams has joined Whitehead Monckton to grow the team , run by team head , David Riordan . Fariha , previously worked as a solicitor in Kent and has developed a reputation as a client focused lawyer who works relentlessly to get a positive outcome for her clients .
David Riordan , head of dispute resolution at Whitehead Monckton , says : “ Fariha is a very exciting addition to our team . She joins a Dispute Resolution team that offers advice on all types of business and private client disputes . We look forward to working with her on a range of cases in the High Court and local County Courts .”
Fariha will be working alongside Sam Corse , who has recently joined the team following an internal move from our Tax & Estate Planning team . Sam will specialise in contentious probate work within the Dispute Resolution team . He is a member of ConTra ( The Contentious Trusts Association ) and is working towards being an Associate Member of The Association of Contentious Trust & Probate Specialists ( ACTAPS ).
Sam brings a wealth of experience in advising on tax and estate planning into his contentious probate practice which gives him an advantage over other contentious probate lawyers . He represents private individuals , executors , administrators , attorneys , deputies , trustees , beneficiaries and disinherited , disappointed or forgotten beneficiaries in bringing and defending contentious probate and trust claims .
