OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST KATE FRENCH MBE LAUNCHES NEW ACTIVITIES AT HAVEN ’ S ALLHALLOWS HOLIDAY PARK
Following a huge £ 17.5 million investment across a range of thrill-seeking outdoor activities , modern accommodation , and a wide selection of food and beverage options , Allhallows Holiday Park is delighted to share the new developments with guests . Team GB Olympic gold medallist Kate French MBE was on hand to launch the brand-new activities . Guests can take full advantage of the brand-new Seahorse Sands Adventure Village , which includes The Jump , offering guests a mighty high experience by freefalling from two different height platforms onto a giant airbag . Hailing from Kent herself , Kate , who took gold for Team GB in Tokyo 2020 , is no stranger to high adrenaline . “ Having an interest in sport from an early age and being raised in Kent I would ' ve loved to have experienced activities like this in my local area growing up .” Guests can also jump for joy on the bungee trampolines and reach for the sky on the towering Aerial Adventure . In addition to the new activities , Allhallows has invested in other areas with over 60 new pitches for holiday homes on two new locations : Hope Reach and Montgomery Rise .
LUXURY CARE HOME OPENS IN SWANLEY WITH VIP EVENT
Birchwood Heights care home on Hilda May Avenue was officially opened by Deputy Lieutenant of Kent , Lady Angela Newey , and resident Eileen Williams . The purposebuilt home is run by Oakland Care and offers all-inclusive residential , nursing , memory and respite care for up to 77 residents . Guests were treated to a Champagne reception on the patio and a tour of the home which features a cinema room , hair and beauty salon , a barber ’ s , air-conditioned lounges , a dedicated consulting room for health appointments and landscaped gardens . As the home ’ s first resident Eileen , 95 , was given the honour of cutting the ribbon . She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Oakland Care ’ s chief executive , Joanne Balmer , and also cut a cake made for the event by the home ’ s catering team . 15 residents now call Birchwood Heights home and it has created over 40 jobs for the area . The opening event also included the Mayor of Swanley , Lesley Dyball , and members of the community , with entertainment from harpist , Mark Levin .
KENT COUSINS GRAB BRITISH GOLD AND SILVER AT BRITISH SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP
Last month saw Kent Powerboat Racing Team , Jelf Racing , headed to the British Sprint Championship at Stewartby , Bedford . Chatham ' s George Elmore grabbed himself the gold medal while Maidstone ' s Ben Jelf secured silver in his respective class . In scorching temperatures over 40 competitors competed for silverware in seven powerboat racing classes . George Elmore , 17 , set about getting down to business quickly on his home water as he went head to head with some really stiff competition in the GT30 class . With fantastic racing conditions , George set about securing pole position with only one goal in sight for the youngster - the top podium step . On his win , he said : “ Conditions were great for me this weekend and the boat was set up perfectly and performing really well so I knew if I could get pole and keep Ash and Paul behind me I was in with a shout to take the win !"
