How To Pantry cont ...
When designing your pantry consider the overall space and how it will fit in , will it be freestanding , or perhaps built-in ? Will it be a floor-to-ceiling cupboard that fits seamlessly into the overall aesthetic ? Or will you opt for the more alternative , standalone shelving unit ? Choose what works for you , and most importantly , make sure it ’ s big enough ; you need surface area to cater for what you ’ re going to put on or inside it – your coffeemaker might not fit if it ’ s too shelf heavy !

“ The best larders are those that go back and back – so much so it feels like you can almost climb on in . Make the most of that depth by looking out for freestanding ledges ( like our Barlow bridge in black-bronze ) that change up the height inside so that you can easily see everything on each level .”

THE KEY COMPONENTS
Now your dream larder is in place and you ’ re all set to go comes the big dilemma : what to fill it with . Ok , so most things can go in the larder , there ’ s no strict rule about what ’ s in and what ’ s out , but the general advice is to keep it simple . Start by removing all the expired , out of date mouldy jars ; jams , sauces and oils that have been lingering at the back of the cupboard for longer than they are welcome . Herbs will naturally accumulate over the years and we are often left asking ourselves , do we really need that many herbs ? And do we actually use them ? Time for a big CULL , dig deep and get rid , and if you ’ re wondering what to do with the in date bits that you just don ’ t need , drop them to your local food bank where they will be most gratefully received .
Now everything is in order , you can begin to think about what will be stored in the larder , and it turns out that there are many things that will actually benefit from not being crammed in the fridge as Gemma Collins at Collins Bespoke Kitchens explains : “ Eggs - although the Food
“ Larders and pantries are a great option to hide everything away , not only are they functional but they look beautiful too .”
