Where do you start with interior layout for a home that needs to appeal to a mix of homebuyers ?
We are extremely fortunate in having a qualified interior designer working with us who works with the sales and marketing team to think thoroughly about how a buyer will use their new home . Our starting point is always the kitchen and we consider how it flows , how the space works and whether it works for those quiet evenings in or when your friends are around .
At Pottery Grove , open space living has sold really well and provides the flexible space that so many of our buyers now want . Built in wardrobes , spacious bedrooms and ensuites are key features that if not included really do put off buyers .
Light is always a key feature , is there enough natural light ? And have we made best use of the orientation ? Our internal layouts stem from the decisions we make early in the planning process as to where works best on the site for homes and how they should sit within the site .
What were the common mistakes that you managed to avoid ?
Lack of storage is always a commonly cited problem in new homes . Our sales , marketing and interior teams are always tweaking plans and making sure that we plan storage well in advance . In addition , through thinking about internal layouts early , we can make sure that the houses work and work really well . The feedback we get from buyers shows that it is clear that this approach really works .
What was your biggest surprise ?
We always knew Pottery Grove was going to be a popular development being a few minutes ’ walk from the train station , town centre and beach . However , we did not expect to be selling out 6 months in advance in a new release .
