SEVENOAKS TO SHOWCASE LOCAL CREATIVES AT ART IN JUNE CELEBRATION

Kent will host a diverse gathering of local artists , crafts and activities across a free , 17-day celebration from 3 - 19 June . With 18 artist locations reaching from Paddock Wood to Sevenoaks , Otford and Edenbridge , the full Art in June ( www . artinjune . org ) circuit has been marked for local art-lovers with a distinct ‘ Yellow Bike Trail ’ made from painted bicycles placed along the roadside to be discovered . The annual event hopes to inspire the Kent community to share their appreciation for local creatives including painters , potters , sculptors , jewellers and more . Occurring at the same time as The Queen ’ s Platinum Jubilee , it will also feature a number of free workshops , craft activities and themed fun for guests . Debra Barr- Smith , Art In June coordinator , says : “ We ’ re delighted to invite everyone to once again experience the talented work of our new and returning artists . With the help of our Yellow Bike Trail , visitors will be able to take a grand tour through some of the beautiful Sevenoaks and Weald countryside , discover new creative passions through our artist-run workshops and help support their local art community .”
UCA ’ S UNMISSABLE GRADUATE SHOW TAKEOVERS RETURN FOR 2022

This June , the University for the Creative Arts ( UCA ) will play host to their end-of-year Graduate Show Takeovers , with work created by the graduating class of 2022 . From experiments with bioplastics , innovations in sustainable design and familial-inspired fashion to creating beauty after trauma , uncovering extraordinary female legacies and representing trans identities . It will be an opportunity to see work created from the heart , original thinking and the next generation of talented creatives who are making our world more innovative , human and diverse . Terry Perk , assistant vice-chancellor said : “ After two years without our degree shows , it ’ s great to have them back ! Endurance , resilience , and aspiration are three of the most important qualities of a creative practitioner , and this year ’ s graduating students are showcasing this in abundance , especially after the impact of COVID .” The takeovers will run at the Canterbury and Rochester campuses from 8 June to 7 July .
LET ’ S ROCK KENT FESTIVAL CALLS FOR VOLUNTEERS IN RETURN FOR FREE TICKETS
Child Bereavement UK is looking for music fans to give four hours of their time to volunteer at Let ’ s Rock Kent selling wristbands and raffle tickets to raise funds to support its work . In return , volunteers will get to enjoy the rest of the event and its 80 ’ s pop guests free of charge . Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies and supports children when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live . The lineup for Let ’ s Rock Kent , which takes place on Saturday 3 September at Mote Park , Maidstone , includes Wet Wet Wet , Bananarama , ABC , Howard Jones , Go West , Heaven 17 and Sister Sledge .
