Tower Bridge Experience
No trip to London is complete without a stroll along the winding River Thames and a selfie with London ’ s most famous bridge . But how about elevating – quite literally – your Tower Bridge encounter with a trip up the iconic towers and across the impressive West Walkway ?
Visitors here will not only step back in time to learn about the history and construction of the bridge but also step up ( and up and up ) as you ’ ll climb the winding original steps to the high platform connecting the towers way above the rising bridge ( the bridge is also fully accessible thanks to lift access to all areas ).
Discover the timeline from design , through construction , to finding out who now holds the responsibility for maintaining the landmark bridge * – a crucial transport link for traffic and boats throughout the capital . (* It is purely coincidental that the bridge got ‘ stuck ’ 2 days after our visit , but the smallest Ready will always claim he pressed the button to make it stop !)
Young visitors can follow the bridge trail , get hands on in the Engine Room – which is an eye opening experience for showcasing Victorian steam-powered conditions – and can also take part in regular creative craft activities . Whilst all guests can enjoy the artist in residence programme , which depicts the bridge , its history and culture in a moving and unique way .
When you reach the top , be sure to pause to take in the spectacular panoramic views from the walkway and summon the courage to walk across the glass floor – our top tip is to look up as well as down ! If you do , you ’ ll find a clever mirror to allow you to get the perfect selfie with the backdrop of the bridge and river below !
Adult tickets cost £ 10.60 , children 5-15 are £ 5.30 , whilst under 5 ’ s visit for free . Family tickets and concession options are also available , with all tickets available to pre book online .
