Jo has also recently worked with the BBC to create their Springwatch garden and had this to say about the trends for this year ;
“ There is generally a wilder feel , either to the whole garden or to parts of the garden . Native wildflower areas are much more loose , there ’ s relaxed planting and a far more sustainable approach : e . g . choosing plants that are appropriate for the location .” she tells insideKENT . “ This style is great for wildlife , another area that ’ s trending in people ’ s minds , and there ’ s an awareness of wildlife too ; creating habitats that are excellent for the biodiversity of the garden . Avoid pesticides and look for peat-free compost . Even leave a patch of nettles in an out-of-sight spot if you can bring yourself to – great for caterpillars . Clients are wanting to make the most of the space they have , and want versatility too , e . g . dining areas can crop up in different spots in the garden according to the time of day and light . Cooking outside is huge , as are garden rooms for obvious reasons . There ’ s an embracing of colour too . Bulbs – snowdrops , crocus daffodils , tulips etc ., are fabulous for colour in the garden from January to June .”
