What was your design / build timeframe ?
We have been progressing the design of Pebble Gate Place over the last couple of years in order to ensure we are creating a scheme which will appeal to local residents , both current and new .
In response to the high interest in the development , we are going to be launching at the end of May from a sales cabin earlier than we would usually do . The first releases will be available to buy ‘ off-plan ’, enabling customers to select their plot and take advantage of being able to choose their kitchen , flooring and tiles .
How do you bring excellent design-led interiors to a larger scale development ?
Westerhill Homes has sold a number of developments of differing sizes , from small developments of under 12 units right up to 300 + schemes , and the designled interiors are one of our key features . We work with brand-leaders in kitchens , tiles and sanitaryware , and are constantly reviewing the interior specifications with our suppliers , to ensure we offer the best we can to our customers . Our sales teams have their fingers on the pulse of our buyers so we get constant feedback on interior designs and specifications , and we are able to adapt and change if we believe it will benefit our homes , and ultimately our customers who will be living in them .
Where do you start with interior styling for a home that needs to appeal to a mix of buyers ?
This can cover layouts and features . We have just submitted a planning application on another development in north Kent and we created a microsite and asked interested people to answer a short series of questions about what types of layouts appealed to them . It is a great way to get real feedback from the end-user , our customers . We try and offer a range of house styles such as a choice of open-plan and separate reception rooms ; multiple en-suites in some homes ; a mix of homes with either the lounge or kitchen at the front ; family or garden rooms to some of the larger styles ; and are looking at much more flexible living spaces than previously . In current times so many people are now working from home , so in some designs we may have a cosy area which can be used as a home office , or a study landing , or a garden or family room which could have an area designated for this use .
Kitchen and bathrooms remain highly personal choices for our customers . We offer a carefully curated range of choices , which means our customers can personlise their homes , it ’ s not a ‘ one size fits all ’ view point . We recognise that everyone has their own ideas , we can guide them in offering a selection of what we think are the best ranges and colour palettes , and our sales teams are able to help them if needed , but often our customers have quite strong views on what they want to achieve with their interior spaces .
What were the common mistakes that you managed to avoid ?
The development layout at Pebble Gate Place has enabled us to create a sense of space and community , and we have avoided having too high a density which helps us to achieve this .
What can potential purchasers of the Pebble Gate Place development expect ?
We will be including wall and floor tiles from Porcelanosa in wet areas , kitchens from Paula Rosa Manhattan , Franke kitchen sink and taps , quality carpets and underlay , a range of appliances including microwaves , fridge / freezers and dishwashers , fitted wardrobes to the master bedroom , sanitaryware from Roca , and turf to the rear garden .
As we are called Pebble Gate Place and the development is near Sandwich Bay , the colour palette on the interior finishes will reflect the pebble beach , with a colour range of soft greys , whites , graphite , and neutral tones . This will create a stylish and neutral collection of tones in each home which our customers can use as a base from which to create their own interior colour story , be it soft and inviting , cool and scandi , colour-rich , or something in-between .
