Dr Shirin Lakhani , Elite Aesthetics www . elite-aesthetics . co . uk
Dr Shirin Lakhani of Elite Aesthetics is quite literally the doctor to the stars , but before she became the ultimate goto for celebs everywhere , she was an anaesthetist for the NHS . Later in her career , Shirin decided to continue her career down a more alternative path by training in the field of medical aesthetics . Her almost instantaneous success in the field had patients queuing out the door to get a consultation with her . In 2013 she founded Greenhithebased Elite Aesthetics , a clinic that rivals the famed Harley Street in terms of quality , care and innovation for its patients . When asked why she based her prestigious clinic in Kent she explained ; ‘ Kent is a place close to my heart on a personal level and a place that I ' ve watched my family grow up in .’
So what ' s on offer at this prestigious clinic ? Well , according to Dr Shirin ; ‘ I now offer a wide range of innovative treatments for various conditions that are often left with unsuitable and ineffective treatment options including treatment for vaginal tightening , as well as medical-grade facials and cosmeceutical skincare to treat acne patients and injectable treatments .’ As we mentioned before Dr Shirin has not just found success in Kent , she is now become THE authority when it comes to anything to do with aesthetics , having appeared across multiple media platforms , including in print , and on TV shows such as ITV ’ s This Morning , discussing vaginal rejuvenation and body dysmorphia on BBC ’ s Victoria Derbyshire and Sky News .
Samantha Ready , editor insideKENT www . insidekentmagazine . co . uk / www . sidewaysmedia . co . uk
If ‘ you want something done ask a busy person ’ has never been more apt than it is for insideKENT ’ s own Samantha Ready . Alongside being editor of your favourite Kent magazine , she is co-director of iK ' s parent company , the award-winning media and design company Sideways Media ; is a director at specialist music business college , SoundSkool ; and has just been appointed as associate head of college at Wac Arts College ; project managing the alternative provision ' s rebranding and move to a new purpose-built arts hub in London next academic year – all whilst raising ( and homeschooling !) three children !
And that ’ s not forgetting that her first year of editorship coincided with the small matter of a global pandemic …
‘ Taking over as editor of insideKENT at the end of 2019 was such an amazing opportunity – albeit one with a steep learning curve ! Entering 2020 with a brilliant team , wonderful readers , great advertisers and a whole heap of fantastic features planned it was utterly devastating to watch it slip away .’ Never one to be deterred , Sam , along with founder and husband Adam , reset the company , protected their Kentish workforce and ensured that they continued to do what is the heart of the magazine ; supporting local people , local businesses and being at the forefront of all things wonderful about our county ! ‘ In and amongst all the doom and gloom the one thing that kept me focused was the wonderful sense of support we had and could provide other local businesses who were all facing the same challenges . Writing about all of the great things that were still happening , the businesses that were diversifying , and meeting so many amazing people who are ready and waiting to keep Kent great , makes my job even more special .’
Although Sam ’ s career has been varied ; from travel to marketing , to managing creative progression and establishing the alumni network at the illustrious BRIT School ; creative writing , design and an utter commitment to raising prospects and creating opportunity for young creatives underpins everything she has achieved and continues to strive for ; recognised most recently by being awarded runner up for the Women in the Arts / Creative Award at the Kent Women in Business Awards 2020 .
‘ Working in the creative industries is an absolute privilege , but one that needs to be shared . I don ’ t think there is any greater satisfaction ( other than hitting print deadline of course !) than seeing the arts used to inspire , motivate and make a difference to a young person ’ s life .’
When asked about her tips for those embarking on a creative career , Sam ’ s advice is simple ; ‘ Always believe in yourself . Do something that makes you happy ( and doesn ’ t just pay the bills ). And always take an interest in the people you meet – the saying ‘ it ’ s not what you know it ’ s who you know ’ is honestly so , so true !’
