BROKEN PLAN LIVING
Broken-plan living or ‘ zoning ’ has become an ever emerging trend in the past few years , but now more so than ever we are trying to adapt the kitchen space as a new way of living . The once ‘ open-plan ’ space is now broken , separated into zones using glass partitions , freestanding furniture and large house plants .
Richard Moore , design director at Martin Moore suggests that much needed designated spaces can be achieved ; ‘ with physical features such as different floor levels , or half walls , or you can use furniture , such as tall open shelving units or soft seating ’. It seems there are lots of different ways to zone our kitchens , an inexpensive way of several rooms within a room .
“ The trend is still very much for an open plan kitchen and living space . However , with everyone now spending more time at home , it has become increasingly important to break up open-plan spaces so that people have a sense of privacy .”
