THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL
The National Memorial to the Few at Capelle-Ferne , which honours the men who fought the Battle of Britain , is not just an evocative place by day but an inspirational site at night . Photographer and friend of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust , Greg Esson , took this beautiful shot on an evening in mid- September 2020 . Made up of 31 individual pictures , taken two minutes apart , this view shows the movement of the stars which surround the pole star ' Polaris ', which is almost exactly the point in the sky around which the Earth appears to rotate on its imaginary spindle through the North and South poles . If you are unable to see the view for yourself right now , Greg raises money for the Trust through the sale of his amazing photography , so you can enjoy this view from the comfort of your living room , cuppa in hand .
