EASTWELL MANOR
FOLKESTONE HARBOUR ARM LEEDS CASTLE
Adam , publisher
‘ There is something about driving up the winding entrance way to Eastwell Manor and exploring the wider Eastwell Park , that is quite special and never fails to put a smile on my face . Although it ’ s on my doorstep it ’ s like a million miles from home ! I love the history of the old Manor house , the brilliant facilities at the Champneys spa and have been known to sneak off for a cheeky afternoon swim to soak up the rays at the outside pool . It was an extra delight and surprise to discover ( during my lockdown ancestry delving ) that I have ancestors connected with the estate and even buried in the local now derelict church !’
Lorna , designer
‘ My happy place is Folkestone ’ s Harbour Arm . Preferably on a sunny day with a cold cocktail from Bathtub & Gun and a tasty snack from one of the amazing food places , while a jive band plays live music to dance to , and I am surrounded by a whole bunch of friends to dance and chat with .’
Jess , features writer
‘ My Kent happy place is , believe it or not , the whole of Kent ! I am irrevocably in love with the grassy hills and cobbled streets . Every ancient building , mystical woodland , quality restaurant , grape-scattered vineyard , harbour town , and corner fish and chip shop in this incredible county has so much magic embedded in every crack and crevice . This is where I met my wonderful partner and where I have made a life for myself , I am happy every second I am here .’
Alison , editorial assistant
‘ Broomhill Sands was new to my family in 2020 . Like most people during the first lockdown we really felt the need , as a family , to escape our surroundings , spending many wonderful , peaceful evenings down at Broomhill Sands . It was wonderful to follow the coast from Littlestone out to Rye , walking , cycling and swimming . This truly was our slice of heaven and became my family ’ s immense happy place .’
Nadene , account manager
‘ My happy place is a run with my husband Matt in the countryside , along the North Downs Way , the path is absolutely beautiful , I never get tired of the view . Part of the run takes us through Leeds Castle which is very magical , especially early in the morning when no one else is around ; just us , the beautiful Castle , the morning mist over the moat and the resident birds ... stunning !’
