Aaric Murry was
Texas Southern’s most
celebrated studentathlete in 2013-2014. He
was the Southwestern
Athletic Conference
(SWAC) Men’s Basketball Player and
Defensive Player of the Year. He was also
named to the ALL SWAC First team as a
center.
Murray led the SWAC in scoring for
the entire regular season averaging 21.7
points per game while hauling in 7.7
rebounds per contest. He was TSU’s
leading scorer in 17 of its 29 games on
the year. Early in the season, Murray
became the first NCAA Division I player
taller than 6’10 to score 48 points in
a game in over a decade while also
becoming the first player to connect on
20+ field goals in a game since 2011.
Defensively, he blocked a league best 69
shots for an average of 2.4 per outing.
Murray earned two national honors,
including the Lute Olson Award National
Player of the Week and the Oscar
Robertson National Player of the Week.
He was also selected as SWAC Player of
the Week four times during the season.
