Inside Stock Car World was saddened to hear the passing of Barrie
Shepherd in October this year following a long battle fighting cancer.
I only ever met Barrie just the once, and that was at the NEC
International Auto Sport Show at Birmingham a few years back. I had
been looking at the #59 car on the Heritage display and we started to
chat about stockcar racing and where it was going. He seemed a very
knowledgeable chap and we spent ten minutes or so talking old times.
Since then I have met a few of the Heritage racers and seen a
number of fantastic heritage cars, but it was Barrie’s enthusiasm and
pride in his car that I brought home from the show. I know Barrie will
be missed by his family and friends in the heritage racing fraternity but
also as an “Old school” stockcar driver.

During his long battle, he kept himself busy with his passion in the
world of stockcars.
BARRIE EXPLAINED "The reason
we built this car was that Garry
Tressler had arranged for me to drive
the Stu Bamforth #3 car as I was at
very low ebb due to my fight against
cancer. After seeing how much it
cheered me up, the guys decided we
should build the car. Once we got
started, I was drawn in and it gave
me something to fight for. I have
gained immense pleasure from racing it and really looking forward to
2010. I would personally like to give
my THANKS to all the guys who
made it possible."
