Monarch Success Story:
Ralph Martinez, Military Connection Center
"The Military Connection Center
is always on the lookout for
programs that help veterans
to achieve their goals. They
let me know about a program
known as the Warrior Scholar
Project. The program is aimed at
teaching veterans to succeed
in the classroom by sending
them to week-long, academic
intensive workshops at some of
the nation’s best schools. With
the MCC’s help, I was accepted
to the program. I’m happy to
say that I’ll be attending this
summer’s Warrior Scholar Project,
hosted by Columbia University."
Working at the Military
Connection Center exposes
Veteran Affairs Work-Study
(VAWS) students to many
programs, events and
scholarships available to them.
While these opportunities are
also promoted to the general
Military Affiliated population,
these students sometimes obtain
further guidance and hands
on support just by virtue of us
working closely in the office.
The MCC assisted Ralph by
informing him about the different
programs and scholarships
available to him as a veteran.
