Discover Your Dominion Program
With the overarching goals of identifying and removing barriers to persistence for Pell-eligible male-identifying students , SEES will create Discover Your Dominion ( DYD ). This retention initiative recently received nearly $ 1 million in funding from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia .
This initiative exemplifies our campus ’ commitment to student success , and this program will provide financial aid counseling , offer family connections , promote a sense of belonging , provide a Success Coach , and craft a peer mentorship experience . Through personalized , individual , and holistic support , SEES will adopt and embrace an integrated programming model to increase the social , cultural , and economic well-being of DYD participants .
Melanie Graham , director of special projects , and Dr . Scott Harrison , associate vice president for administration , secured the external funding through grant writing . Dr . Johnny Young , associate vice president for inclusion , will serve as the principal investigator , and key personnel for project implementation include Melanie Graham , Dr . Christopher Fleming , assistant vice president for enrollment & executive director for admissions , and Ashley Miller , associate vice president for enrollment management .
