IN THE WEEDS
In September , our Medina team volunteered with the Medina County Park District to assist with invasive-species management and native-seed harvesting at Medina Marsh Nature Preserve . The group spent the morning removing multiflora rose , honeysuckle , autumn olive , and a large grove of Bradford pear saplings . Removal of these highly invasive species will prevent their spread into the sensitive natural habitat located at Medina Marsh . Through close coordination with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo , the Bradford pear saplings were provided to the zoo to help feed the animals . The volunteer group also spent part of the day collecting native Indiangrass seeds for use with future MCPD meadow restoration projects .
COMING TOGETHER FOR CLEVELAND
In September , Rea ’ s Independence Team supported The City Mission ’ s 1 mile / 5K Walk Run event at Edgewater Park in Cleveland , with principal Judy Mondry winning first place in her age group . The City Mission empowers men , women , and children in crisis to overcome their unique , complex paths to homelessness . Their mission is to reach hearts and change lives in Cleveland since 1910 and will continue to provide basic needs , critical recovery resources , and practical paths to a sustainable future to all seeking help and hope .
The office supports many other causes throughout the year , including Cornerstone of Hope , and the team also completely funded a scholarship endowment for Cleveland State University .
