2014 NSW Super Senior Pennant Champions – Forster-Tuncurry Golf Club
The Forster-Tuncurry club has
won their first ever inter-district
competition with victory in the
final of the 2014 NSW Super Senior
Pennant.
Kennings and Geoff Calvert still
playing great golf for the ForsterTuncurry club they are certainly the
early favourites to claim the 2015
Supper Senior Pennant.
in the final which was played at
Horizons Golf Club (Nelson Bay).
The final series was played between
teams from the following clubs who
were the divisional winners - The
Lakes, Cronulla, Forster-Tuncurry,
Gosford, Wyong, Castle Hill, Penrith
and Newcastle. Forster-Tuncurry had
competed in Zone 8 which included
the Port Macquarie, Hawks Nest and
Maitland clubs.
This is only the second year ForsterTuncurry has competed in the
Super Senior Pennant. In 2013 they
were defeated in the semi-finals
by Newcastle so the team greatly
appreciated this win in the return
match. Newcastle lost their 2013
final to The Lakes Golf Club meaning
they have now been runners-up in
successive years although it is worth
noting they have won the pennant
on three previous occasions.
On the way to the title ForsterTuncurry defeated Castle Hill in the
quarter finals, Wyong in the semifinals and then Newcastle Golf Club
No doubt the Newcastle Super
Seniors team will again be looking
to go one better next year but with
highly rated senior players like Tony

Kingston Heath senior Gordon
Claney has taken the lead in the 2014
Doug Bachli Trophy. A recent win in
the 54-hole Cobram-Barooga Senior
Open gave Claney a 300 point boost
and he now holds a comfortable lead
over Tony Hyde from the Rossdale
club. Hyde is continuing in his role
as the iron man having played in
all sixteen events held to date. The
previous Order of Merit leader Barry
Tippett missed the Cobram event
and has slipped back to third place
overall.
