CLIENT SPOT LIGHT
tracy & scott
I recently had the privilege of photographing Tracy & Scott’s
gorgeous wedding. Brisk weather matched the racing pulse
of friends & family alike as the two said “I do.” Weddings
are a flurry of excitement & special moments between loved
ones, family & friends. The best photography not only
captures the smiles, demure glances & beautiful flowers; but
also the unique personality of each couple.
How can you be prepared for the biggest day of your life so
far? Here, Tracy & Scott share about their Maine Destination
wedding:
CHOOSING A LOCATION.
We are Chicagoans who love our city, but we were more
interested in having a destination wedding. I was voting for
tropical, & Scott was angling for the East Coast so it would
be easier for his family to attend. We didn’t argue long about
this, because the perfect venue was just sitting there waiting
for us to recognize it: my aunt & uncle’s winery in Maine. The
Winterport Winery was an intimate, cozy location for a fall
wedding in New England.
CREATING A LOOK FOR THEIR DAY.
We were looking for our wedding to represent our urban
selves in a New England fall setting…not an easy task. I
had already settled on dark teal & chocolate brown for our
wedding colors, & was having a hard time figuring out how to
make those work together until I stumbled upon an Inspiration
to Reality photo shoot on StyleMePretty. A lot of lovely
elegance, plus a little bit of drama with the feathers!
THE BEST ADVICE FOR A BRIDE.
In retrospect, I would not recommend planning a wedding
more than 1,000 miles away by yourself in 4 months with
no wedding planner. It’s a bit complicated, and that’s an
understatement. Thank God for the internet! Etsy was my
best friend in planning, & I also enlisted friends to help.
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE WEDDING DAY.
In the end, our wedding was a little bit vintage, a little bit
New England, & a little bit rock & roll. All in all, pretty perfect
in our minds. We’re not very traditional so it was fun to mix
it up a bit. I loved every detail & every part of our day, but
in the end there is this: I married my best friend & the man
who makes me a better person, surrounded by our family &
closest friends. There is nothing better than that.
